Just a little longer?

Can you spot the bumble bee and the little fly coming in for a landing?

My favorite season

is quickly coming to an end....

Yet I cling to it...

hoping to make it stay around

a little longer

Daylight is Diminishing

And a chill is in the air

making me crave comfort foods

and apple pie!

But oh, not yet...please...

I just got used to the heat!

And...I haven't even used up my little tube of sunscreen!

I want more

bike rides along

the lakefront...

And visits to the farm

with my best four legged friend...

 Corn on the Cob

Gazpacho

made from

fresh garden veggies...

Watermelon...

Refreshment by the stream...

Walks in the park...

Summer fountains...

 Gazing upward

as the moon hangs out with the clouds...

And...

Visits

 from

 a

 hungry

 fawn

Since Labor Day, front doors in the

neighborhood have been adorned with

autumn wreaths; friends are sharing recipes

for pumpkin cookies and fall mums have

been on display in the markets.

But I just don't feel ready...

And my flowers are still in full bloom!

Oh...Please...don't rush me!!!

Is anyone else sad that summer comes

so late and leaves so early?

 Or is it just me?

I'll miss you summer!  I'll miss eating

outdoors in the warmth and sunshine...

open windows ushering in balmy breezes...

the freshness of the morning dew and

the aroma of orange blossoms...

the beautiful song

of cardinals

and chickadees

Evenings of cool refreshment

The sound of the owl's call and the crickets

night time serenade... a steady morning

wake up call from the baby wren nested

nearby...the sweet smell of honeysuckle...

The feeling of freedom...

The kind of freedom that makes you feel like

dancing like nobody's watching!

And Sunsets!

Wonderful

Glorious

      Sunsets!!!

(I'm so thankful that sunsets are year round!)

I did recently say to some friends that I'm

trying to embrace the changing seasons so

that I won't miss out on the beauty of the

moment.  Just as I rush out at sunset to see

what the master artist paints for us each

evening, I will also revel in the full spectrum

of autumn color coming our way very soon.

I will embrace each new season...when it's

time...but...for now...until the calendar

says it's autumn...

I'd like

to stay

right

here

in

summer!

I agree with you, just a little longer pretty please. I will miss everything about summer. I love your sky shots, on rare occasion, the sky turns lavendar and orange, I will have to rush out next time and capture it. Hope you enjoy every last day of it!

oh bella your pics are stunning, truly stunning. It brought such a smile to my face. You know Autumn is my personal favorite, but I love to see others love their favorite season as much as I love mine! Truth be told I really do appreciate each season for the time at hand, and I feel so blessed to live in a place where we truly experience all four seasons for an equal amount of time. Although this summer was tough on me because of the heat and this pregnancy, normally we love to play in the lake and do lots of camping this time of year, and just when I've had my fill, the Fall ushers in and I am there waiting to greet it with open arms. I am longing for all things cozy, for changing colors and food harvesting, chile roasting, big mugs of cocoa and tea and rich coffee, enormous bowls of soup and warm breads, for my favorite scarves and hats and boots and layering in bundling bliss....oh I cannot wait for Fall. It still is too warm to consider this Fall for us here, eighty degrees all week, but I don't mind it because there are gentle breezes to accompany, and it is a wonderful break from the 90 degree and 100 degree weather we've had all summer! I have many "summer lovers" in my life, including you, and it just makes me smile to see you cherish each moment......and I hope as Fall makes its way to your corner of the world, it will warm your heart and you will discover new beauty and lavishness and that this will be the VERY BEST Autumn you've ever had.....much love and sunshine to you bella xoxo

I love hearing about your favorite seasons, too!
I hope that whichever season it is, you drink it in and make the best of every moment!

Oh I feel like we didn't have summer...instead we had over 70 days of 100 plus weather that push us into the house tooooooooooooo early...and we never got to the lake. So I am not ready for fall, I just want to go back and start summer over, and have a little rain and some 90's!

Thanks for re-caping your summer and letting me enjoy all the pictures and words....love the turtle. My daughter told tonight at the table how she had stopped her car to get out and put a turtle on the other side of the road so he wouldn't get hit...her "nanny" boys were so embarrassed...LOL

I always love and appreciate the changing of the seasons, and marvel at God's beautiful works, however fall is my favorite time of year when the brilliance of the colors and the gradual cooling of the weather make everything fascinating. :) But I have to agree with you; I really hate to see the days already getting shorter and summer coming to an end! It went by so quickly this year.

Beautiful pictures; thanks for sharing! :)
Blessings and love :)

You're an artist with a camera lens. These photographs are beautiful.

On another note, I love the tagline to your blog: "What we see depends mainly on what we look for."

I love this. It's so true.

What a refreshing visit before I go to bed! Fall is coming here quickly in Indiana, and summer has been too short. Thank you!

I'm with you Lorraine. I'm hoping for a couple more beach days. Who knows? Last year at mid October it was in the high 70's one day, and we spent the day on the beach! It's like one last hurrah, before we have to resort to sweaters and comfy slippers. My feet are freezing right now...think I'll head upstairs and settle for slippers...already. :(

wow what a great post... love love love the pictures.. I do love the summer,,I love the fall better,,but I live in Fla..so its kinda inside joke here... we get like maybe two weeks of it (which consist of 70* weather , but not change of the color of leaves) but soak in all the summer you can,,and when it is over,,go back and savor these pictures..lol..

Sweet one... even as you grieve the ending of summer, I celebrate the onset of Fall--my favorite season. How lovely that we have 4 to choose from! Each season holds its own worthiness, and there are many things I will miss about the summer.

But I'm giddy with anticipation about the changing witness of fall!

peace to you in all seasons~elaine

Beautiful photos, Lorraine...and I'm sadly saying goodbye to summer, too. I love autumn, but it's the ushering in of winter that I dread~

Have a great week, my friend~

Well, Fall is my fav so it's not as hard for me. But oh, I really, really miss the fresh fruit and veggies. I almost mourn the end of the berries! I so enjoyed all your photographs. Brilliant color.
